Certification for both the Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) and the CAVS (Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services) are now being administered by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). Registration for th 2011 CVA cycle is now open. For more details and the registration form, you can print the 2011 CVA Candidate Handbook. The CAVS registration is continuous, with no annual deadline.
A new textbook for CVA certification is now available - Volunteer Administration: Professional Practice. The book is organized around the five core competencies which serve as a foundation for the profession of volunteer administration: ethics, organizational management, human resources management, accountability, and leadership and advocacy. THe book is required reading for certification. It is available for $75 from the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA) at http://cvacert.org.
