The CVA is not a course of study in volunteer management, but a credentialing program. It measures your ability to manige volunteers and is recommended for experienced volunteer managers. The certification is administered by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). The credential is recognized internationally.
About the Presenter
Joanna is the Volunteer Services Coordinator for the City of Austin's Municipal Animal Shelter, Town Lake Animal Center. She joined the volunteer management career field in 2001 after serving as a volunteer parent, an elementary educator, and executive assistant. In April 2007, Joanna completed the requirements as a Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA). She credits the lessons learned through the CVA process for effectively managing 400 volunteers.

About the Presenter:Rick Murray is currently the Director of the Office of Performance Improvement
at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center.
In that capacity he leads the Academy of Performance Improvement, an internal and external consulting group of industrial engineers, specializing in improving healthcare delivery systems
and business processes.
He also serves as theDirector of the Center for Healthcare Excellence at MD Anderson,
a patient safety organization and an applied research unit for the development and deployment of improved processes and systems in healthcare.
Rick is also a mediator for the Better Business Bureau and the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center.
